Project Overview

Technology Development Group at the ISB

The Biosystems, Engineering, and Technology Advancement (BETA) group has developed unique instruments for microarray construction and use. The result is a system capable of rapidly creating custom arrays, on demand, and with exceptional specificity.

To this end, we have developed POSaM- an open-source microarray synthesizer, based on inkjet technology. Schematics, software, manuals, and protocols are freely available for download. BIOSAP rapidly predicts accurate and thermodynamically similar oligonucleotides for this platform. Our waveguide microarray scanner improves on the specificity of conventional array hybridization by measuring every probe spot at its optimal stringency during temperature ramping.
